Soft Tissue Allografts for Root coverage or Ridge Augmentation: What are you using????
Sat, 02/20/2010 - 07:37 — inveptirrinia
There are some many allografts on the market: Amnion (Biocover), Alloderm, ACdermis, Puros Dermis etc.
What are you using and why? What are you getting the best results with? What technique helps enhance results using allografts for root coverage and ridge augmentation?
Thank you for your input

Soft tissue allografts
Not a huge fan of soft tissue allografts. I am a CTG man.

Nice DentalXP video
Excellent! Thank you for sharing.
Alloderm user hear: Works great
Been using alloderm for years. Love it, great for augmenting a ridge our doing multiple recession defects. It is technique sensitive and I tend to tunnel it.
Alloderm works for me but still favor CTG
I still favor connective tissue grafts. I get the best results with those but it has limitations on what I can harvest. I use alloderm for multiple recession defects and I too tunnel it.
I mix the alloderm with PRP and get pretty good healing.
Zimmer Dermis Allograft for ridge augmentation
I dont do any root coverage so I cant comment. For my implants and my pontic development I use Zimmer Dermis. Very nice handling. Is very thick and bulks the area up nicely.
Also has a nice shelf life and hydrates quickly.
Alloderm for root coverage and ridge augmentations
I dont use very often but had decent results with alloderm for ridge augmentation and bigger root coverage cases.
I like with ridge augmentation I can leave it exposed with little problem.
Leaving Alloderm exposed??
Can't agree with that. Higher rate of infection and complication without a doubt.
Best thing that can happen is that it simply resorbs and that's the best case scenario. Keep it covered!
Soft tissue allografts for root coverage
I stick with CTG...I rarely use soft tissue allografts and the results less the stella compared to CT grafts.
Usually very mucosal in nature.
Soft tissue allografts
For large cases alloderm is ideal. Results still less then CTG.
Soft tissue allograft for augmentation
I dont do root coverage procedures so its hard to say. I do use alloderm for augmenting soft tissue prior to implants or osseous augmentation. It fits the bill/
Soft tissue allograft for augmentation
I only use it to augment the soft tissue under a pontic or prior to building a ridge if there is a soft tissue deficient and I am worried about primary closure. I will two stage the surgery. I like zimmer dermis.
Soft tissue Allografts for Root Coverage
I took pat allens course and it has help me achieve better results with alloderm. I am able to achieve better root coverage with allograft since tunneling and better suturing techniques.
